Ring — Ring Doorbell Not Connecting to WiFi
Ring doorbells lose WiFi connection more often than most smart home devices because they're outside your house, far from the router. The fix is usually a simple network reset or moving your router closer. No special tools needed.
Google — Nest Thermostat Not Turning On
A Nest thermostat that won't turn on has almost always run out of battery power. Unlike old thermostats, Nest uses an internal rechargeable battery that gets charged by your HVAC system. If the battery drains, the thermostat goes dark. The most common cause is a missing 'C-wire' that would keep it charged.
Amazon — Alexa Echo Not Responding
If your Alexa Echo isn't responding to voice commands, it's usually a WiFi issue, a muted microphone, or a software glitch. The good news is this almost never requires any replacement parts. Most of the time you'll have it working again in under 5 minutes.
Google — Google Home Not Connecting
A Google Home (or Nest speaker) that won't connect is usually a WiFi issue or a setup glitch. These devices rely entirely on WiFi, so if your network hiccups, the speaker goes offline. The fix is almost always free and takes about 10 minutes.
