Disc Drive Not Reading
If your PS5 isn't reading discs, it's usually caused by a dirty disc, a dirty laser lens, or a misaligned disc drive. Start with the simple stuff — cleaning the disc and rebuilding the database fixes it more often than people expect. Most of these steps cost nothing.
Blinking Blue Light (Blue Light of Death)
The blinking blue light on your PS4 (also called the 'Blue Light of Death') means the console is turning on but can't output a video signal to your TV. This is usually caused by a loose HDMI connection, a software issue, or a hardware handshake problem. Many people fix it by simply reseating cables and booting into Safe Mode.
Overheating and Shutting Off
A PS4 that overheats and shuts off is almost always caused by dust buildup inside the console or dried-out thermal paste. After 3-4 years of use, the inside of your PS4 looks like a lint factory. Cleaning it out and replacing the thermal paste can make it run like new. This is one of the most rewarding DIY fixes you can do.
